Hello
My name is Carlos, and I’m proud to bring both lived experience and policy knowledge to my work at MenSafe. As an adoptee and a survivor of sexual violence, I know how critical it is to have a strong support system when navigating the healing process.
I recently graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Mary Washington, and I plan to pursue a legal career focused on advocacy for survivors—especially those whose voices are often silenced. I’m honored to be part of a team that shares my commitment to building a more just, compassionate world.
My Story
I was adopted as a child and raised in Virginia, but it wasn’t until I began processing my own experience as a survivor that I realized just how powerful community, trust, and resilience truly are. My journey led me to the University of Mary Washington, where I studied political science with the goal of turning pain into purpose.
While on campus, I led efforts to amplify the voices of male survivors and worked with the Virginia General Assembly to push for stronger Title IX protections. That work deepened my belief that every survivor deserves to be seen, believed, and supported—not just in theory, but through real policy change.
Joining MenSafe has allowed me to combine advocacy with action. I’m proud to work alongside a team that shows up every day for survivors, walking with them toward healing, justice, and hope.
