About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
MenSafe is a Charlottesville-based nonprofit focused on education, awareness, and support for male survivors of abuse. We work alongside schools, community organizations, and service providers to ensure men are included in survivor-centered programs and pathways to care.

Our Story
MenSafe was created to address a gap that too often goes unspoken. While conversations around abuse and violence have expanded, men who experience harm are still frequently overlooked, misunderstood, or discouraged from seeking support.
MenSafe exists to change that.
Founded in Charlottesville, Virginia, MenSafe is a nonprofit focused on education, awareness, and support for male survivors of abuse. Our work centers on creating low-barrier, trauma-informed spaces where men can better understand their experiences, reduce isolation, and connect to appropriate resources without pressure or judgment.
The organization was founded by Wyatt J. Snow, whose academic and advocacy work highlighted how cultural expectations around masculinity often prevent men from naming harm or accessing help. MenSafe was built not as a replacement for existing services, but as a complement. We collaborate with schools, community organizations, and service providers to ensure male survivors are included in conversations, programming, and pathways to care.
Our approach is intentionally practical and measured. MenSafe focuses on pilot programs, partnerships, and education initiatives that can be implemented responsibly and evaluated clearly. We prioritize confidentiality, choice, and respect for each individual’s pace and experience.
At its core, MenSafe believes that survivorship does not have one face, one story, or one solution. Supporting men strengthens communities, institutions, and families as a whole.
MenSafe is committed to building a future where male survivors are seen, supported, and never dismissed.
